Contaminated pet food with Salmonella
(Detroit=Michigan Korean Times) Kevin Shin Youth=MichiganThe Procter and Gamble Company have recalled certain lots of dry pet food, as they have a chance to be infected with salmonella.As there is a risk to pets, there is also a risk to humans handling the infected food. Symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and fever. Customers having these symptoms after handling the product should see their healthcare provider.Pets will also have the same symptoms, with the added symptom of being lethargic if they come in contact with the products. The Procter and Gamble Company testing found that some products made during a 10-day window at a site may have the potential to contain the Salmonella Contamination.Procter and Gamble is recalling the potentially infected products made during the time period.Salmonella could impact the animals eating the food, and have a risk to humans as well, especially if they do not wash their hands after coming in contact with the product or surfaces that were in contact with the product.The products contaminated are the Eukanuba Dry dog foods, the Iams dry dog food and Iams dry cat food.Kevin Shin youth reporter for Michigan Korean TimesEmail: admin@mktimes.com
