City of dearborn and allied war veterans council together move the monument from the city property to henry ford centennial library front. City mayor Jack O’Reilly and Allied war council commander Sean Green Commander Dearborn Allied War Veterans Consul, and Korean war council member John Ruselowski attended the ceremony. US Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, State Representative George Darany, and other officials also came to support this event. There were about 400 people in attendance, to honor all the veterans who died for freedom. O’Reilly said “My father was a WW2 and Korean War veteran. Every Korean war ceasefire event, he spoke in the Korean language to the public. It wasn’t perfect, but he tried. That’s how much he loved the Korean people.” Ruselowski said “The purpose of this is for education for the young generations, coming here to see the sacrifice of the veterans who died in the name of freedom. To remember those who sacrificed themselves.” During the Korean war, 294,000 soldiers died, 226,000 were wounded, 120,000 went missing. Also, 406,000 civilians died, along with 1,594,000 wounded, and 700,000 missing. A total of 1,820,000 were wounded during the war. 33,629 US Troops were killed in action, 20,617 were killed out of action. 103,284 Troops were wounded. 8,177 Troops went missing. 7,140 were prisoners of war, and only 3,746 returned. Freedom is not free. Many soldiers sacrificed themselves for freedom. Susan A.
